About The Event

We are pleased to inform you that the School of Multimedia Technology and Communication (SMMTC), the Multimedia Innovation and Digital Humanities (MIDH) Research Unit, Universiti Utara Malaysia, and the IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society (SMC) Malaysia Chapter are organising the first Multimedia Innovation and Digital Humanities International Conference (CHiC2020), on the 13 & 14 June 2023. MIDHIC2023 is a rebranded international conference from three conferences (CIIC2015, ICON-HMC2017, & CHIC2020) organised by SMMTC, UUM since 2015.

MIDHIC2023 intends to provide an avenue for an insightful and engaging meeting, forum, presentation and discussion of issues, information, and unique research findings from the multimedia innovations and digital humanities angle. MIDHIC2023 is interdisciplinary and brings innovative multimedia industry-focused projects, papers, and creative outputs that respond to and address complex social and cultural issues. The event includes keynote addresses from leading experts, panel discussions, workshops, and an award ceremony.

This conference provides a platform for attendees to present new research and debate issues relating to notions of value in the applied multimedia, social science, humanities, and cultural sectors. It highlights how multimedia innovation and creative humanities research and practices involving technology, creativity, multi-disciplinarity, and critical thinking can contribute to the solutions to many human issues.

The objectives of MIDHIC2023 are:

  1. To discuss and expose the current initiatives related to multimedia innovation and digital humanities technology.
  2. To foster a community passionate about helping each other, emphasising multimedia innovation and digital humanitarian issues in ICT within various industries.
  3. To provide space for HEI students, researchers, and professionals to meet, discuss and share knowledge with experts in relevant fields.
  4. To take lessons from multimedia innovation and digital humanities technology experts in producing a more knowledgeable future community to manage and address organisational, national, and global problems.
  5. To provide a platform for collaboration between industry and academia.
  6. To train students to organise international events to build their soft skills.
  7. To publish the conference proceeding in a Scopus-indexed publication, IEEE Explore.

Authors are invited to submit complete, original and unpublished research papers to the International Conference.

Submission Guidelines

  • The paper must be an original work and have not been previously accepted in a journal or under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  • All papers must conform to IEEE Proceedings standard - set in MS Word. Please read the GUIDE FOR AUTHORS before preparing your paper and follow the Proceedings Template (Download Guide Manuscript Templates for Conference Proceedings HERE) or TEMPLATE HERE.
  • Abstract must be between 200 to 250 words only.
  • Title of the paper should only have maximum of twelve (12) words.
  • Each paper should contains: Introduction, Problem Statement, Research Questions, Purpose of Study, Research Methods, Findings, Conclusion, Acknowledgement (if any) and References. 
  • References list should complies with IEEE requirements and contains complete inventory of references used in the full text.
  • The paper must be written in English or Bahasa Malaysia with maximum of SIX (6) one-and-a-half (1.5) spaced pages, including an abstract, references, table, figures and appendices.
  • Abstract and paper (in Microsoft Word format) must be sent  through EasyChair Conference Management System.

For Authors, payment must be made by 28 May 2023, or your article will not be published in the proceedings.

 

Cancellation Policy

Conference registrants cancelling their registration on or before 7 May 2023 will receive a refund of the conference registration fee, less an RM250 administrative fee. 
Please note: No refunds will be given after 7 June 2023
Written requests for cancellation must be emailed to payment-midhic@uum.edu.my
