About The Event

We would like to welcome you to the official website of the 8th International Conference on Communication and Media 2022 (i-COME’22). This biennial event is organized by the Department of Communication, School of Multimedia Technology and Communication, Universiti Utara Malaysia and will be held on 1 – 3 October 2022, virtually. The conference provides an opportunity to researchers, practitioners and students to interact and share their experience and knowledge in communication and media. I-COME’22 provides an excellent international platform for knowledge sharing in the areas of communication and media, as well as providing an ideal environment for new collaborations and meeting scholars and experts in the areas of communication and media.

I-COME’22 welcomes participants from all over the world who are interested in communication and media, especially how globalization and current situation affects the future landscape of the fields. The aim of the conference is to provide platform for scholars, researchers and practitioners from both academia and industry to meet and share the advanced development and changes in both areas. The conference also hopes to discuss the innovative discovery of research level and promote international scientific cooperation and exchange of ideas among researchers and practitioners. Our conference relies on a wide range of challenges and issues in the fields of communication and media which will be presented through keynote addresses, plenary sessions, presentations by distinguished scholars and practitioners, and doctoral colloquium which is specially designed for post graduate students to share their experiences. The highlight of the conference will be the award presentation during the closing ceremony which will be given as recognition to the outstanding work of the selected researchers.

Conference Benefit

All accepted papers will be published in the indexed conference proceedings.
Selected papers will be published in relevant International Journals, with an additional charge.
Awards will be given for the best research paper as well as best paper presentation.

Submission Guidelines

  • The paper must be an original work and have not been previously accepted in a journal or under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  • All papers must conform to International Conference on Communication and Media Proceedings standard - single-column format set in MS Word. Please read the GUIDE FOR AUTHORS before preparing your paper and follow the Proceedings Template (Download Guide for authors HERE and proceedings template HERE)
  • Abstract must be between 200 to 250 words only.
  • Title of the paper should only have maximum of twelve (12) words.
  • Each paper should contains: Introduction, Problem Statement, Research Questions, Purpose of Study, Research Methods, Findings, Conclusion, Acknowledgement (if any) and References. 
  • References list should complies with APA requirements and contains complete inventory of references used in the full text.
  • The paper must be written in English or Bahasa Malaysia with maximum of EIGHT (8) one-and-a-half (1.5) spaced pages, including an abstract, references, table, figures and appendices.
  • Abstract and paper (in Microsoft Word format) must be sent  through EasyChair Conference Management System.

Publication

All full papers will be accepted through a double blind reviewed process. The paper will be published in the indexed roceedings (ISI or WOS subject to approval)

Registration fees (participants and presenters) include conference admission and conference package (i.e proceedings and materials).

Authors need to pay the fees BEFORE 1 SEPTEMBER 2022 in order for their papers to be included in the conference proceedings.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Conference registrants cancelling their registration on or before 15 September will receive a refund of the conference registration fee, less a RM250 administrative fee.
Please note: No refunds will be given after 1 September 2022.

Virtual Presentation

The Format

Virtual presentations are the great way to engage with the audience and present your work when physical meetings are not permitted or restrcited. Such presentations utilise technological solutions to allow you present either synchronous (live) or asynchronous (pre-recorded). For live streaming sessions, the presentation will be conducted using videoconferencing applications - Cisco WebEx. The pre-recorded presentations, it will be broadcasted via i-COME YouTube Channel. Presenters will be notified via email if their papers have been selected for the live streaming presentation sessions.

 
The Process

Step 1:

Produce a presentation in media format (MP4, WMV, FLV or AVI)

Step 2:

Upload your presentation into i-COME Cloud Repository

Step 3:

Secretariat will upload your presentation into i-COME YouTube Channel

Step 4:

View and respond to your presentation comments or questions via i-COME Youtube Channel Comments Section (on the Conference Day). For selected papers, presentations will be carry out via WebEx live streaming.



Preparing Your Virtual Presentation

Step 1:

Design and produce a PowerPoint slides of your presentation. Each presentation should not exceed 12 minutes.

Step 2:

Produce your presentation in media format by recording your narration with or without your video on the PowerPoint slides. Tutorial on how to record narration and video using (i) Screencast-O-Matic, (ii) Debut Video Capture, and (iii) Microsoft PowerPoint can be found in i-COME YouTube Channel

Step 3:

Submit your recorded presentation to i-COME'22 Cloud Repository not later than 18 October 2022. Detail information will be emailed to each registered presenter.
