Members Of The Media Are Important Friends To UUM - VC

UUM ONLINE:The media, be it the print media or the electronic media, have an important role in disseminating information, not only in terms of creating awareness among the people concerning a particular issue, but also in terms of helping educate them with regard to the human condition.

The media are indispensable in aiding an institution to enhance its image on its journey towards attaining a high reputation. As such, a close connection between the institution and the media is crucial to ensuring the achievement of its objectives.

The Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak, said that UUM greatly appreciated the important role of the media in relaying information to the people concerning the university’s multifarious activities.

“The members of the media are important friends to UUM. I am very grateful to the media personnel for their invaluable contribution by way of giving wide coverage to, publicising, and helping promote, the university’s myriad activities and momentous agenda.

“I hope that this amiable rapport continues, for, without the media, a pivotal element in our communication process with the people would be lost,” he said in his address at the dinner to mark the Kedah Elite Media Club’s (KEMC) Family Day celebration, at the EDC-UUM, recently.

The President of the KEMC, Kamarul Ariffin Md Yasin, said that he was much obliged to the Vice-Chancellor for generously allowing the club to access the university’s facilities for the purpose of holding the KEMC members’ Family Day gathering.

“I fervently hope that the relations between the KMEC and UUM, which began as a link for the purposes of channelling news to the media, would grow even closer in the time to come,” said the President of the KMEC, who was also the Chief of the Kedah BERNAMA Bureau.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Prof. Dr. Abdul Razak Saleh, was among the guests who attended the dinner held to fete150 members of the media in Kedah and their families.
